The vets are actually the only people making a profit in this whole tainted animal food disaster. As a pet food scientist, I can assure you, that you have no idea what goes on in the pet food industry to make a dollar. Sometimes you really have to watch what else your pets eat, other dog treats, as well as the things we don't see them get into.
You would be doing your pet a great service to buy a pet food recipe book and make your own, the pet food industry is not going to change, remembere the bottom line is profit not love. I kept telling myself that it wasn't the food because it wasn't on the recall list and that it was such an expensive brand. We had just bought a new 40lb bag of the food and I didn't want to just throw it away. I then went out and bought another brand, one of the few brands accessible to me that wasn't on the recall list. As for those of you who say it is a great Premium” food, Nutro calls itself a premium food.
I drove 45 minutes south to go to PetSmart to get that food, when I could have gotten food made by the same people in the same way right up the road at the local pet store or Wal-Mart. I am happy for you that you have never had any problem with your pets with the Nutro food. I went to PETCO and asked them what is the best food for large breed dogs. Almost from the time I put her on the food she had really bad urination problems. Then on April 27, 2008 I rushed my dog to the hospital with a 106.9. My dog (Molly) threw up in the car which she has never done.
