A mish-mash of news

Urgh! I’ve been so flat out writing and editing TOP I haven’t had time to think of a blog post. All I can offer is a report on how it’s going and a mish-mash of other news. So how is TOP going? Fantastically! I’m really pleased with this book and I’m excited about submitting it. But that won’t be for a while yet. It still has a rest period and then at least another edit to get through before that happens.

Though I don’t tweet much, I’m a bit of a Twitter fan. A surprising amount of useful information is passed via this medium. But what’s caught my eye lately are a series of hashtag topics. If you’re a writer, search for #allaboutagents, #AgentPeeves and #askagent and you’ll find a stack of really useful tweets.

Ooh, and I’d better not forget. A lovely big box of books arrived for me the other day from Chapter Books. Yup, I finally spent my RWNZ Short Story Contest winnings. So now I have an even more tottery to-be-read pile. In the end I chose a combination of romance and other books I’d had trouble getting hold of. Which means that after more than a year of coveting a copy, I finally possess a copy of the Italian sensation, Imprimatur.

And you might have noticed I’m reading Anna Campbell’s Tempt the Devil which I won during Eleni-fest. What a book! I’m wallowing in the vivid language and amazingly deep emotion. Honestly, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s a fantastic read.

And my wrist and forearm seem to be on the mend. Yay!

Pity my golf game isn't....

Thanks for the heads up on the hashtags. I'm still getting the hang of twitter but I do love it. So much info delivered in small doses. And its so great to hear other writers progress and good news. I use Hootsuite to mangage members into groups - much easier on the eyes.

It's tempting to join Twiter, perhaps after this month when things have settled down. With the NaNo, I'm finding it a job of getting all the time I want for it, although my word count is okay. I only write during the week, so having the weekend off I need to write more words each day.

As I said twitter does sound tempting. :)

Thanks for dropping by, ladies.

Heather, I enjoy hearing about other writers' progress and ups and downs too. Makes me feel like I'm not alone. Hootsuite sounds interesting. I'm using TweetDeck, but I've seen plenty of tweets done using Hootsuite. I wonder what the difference is...

Anna, I'm REALLY enjoying your devil. I just adore your writing. It's so luscious!

Suz, I only write during the week too (weekends are sacrosanct in the Brunet household) so I know how hard it is to keep that word count ticking over. But I find Twitter much less time consuming than Facebook (which I'm struggling with, to tell the truth). Give it a try after Nano and see what you think. It's very easy to set up and if you download a platform like TweetDeck (or maybe Hootsuite as Heather uses) you can look after Facebook, Twitter and MySpace at the same time.
